Taking Mindquest Academy college prep courses through
an ABE program
Who takes these courses?
Generally, adult learners who are completing their GED, high school diploma or Advanced ESL programs, and are interested in going to college, are those who take Mindquest Academy college prep courses. Other adults who already have a GED or diploma and are "brushing-up" their skills in math, reading, or writing may also take our courses.
What kind of time commitment do I need to make?
If you're taking a course as part of your ABE program, your teacher will usually suggest you spend about five hours a week on Mindquest Academy work. If you can devote more time than this, you will progress more quickly! A good goal is to complete one course module or more a week. However, there is no set time that you must put in – you and your teacher will decide what works best for you and what you can manage.
How many courses will I take?
This differs for every student and depends upon your skill needs, your academic goals, and what you are already working on in your ABE program. You might take several courses. You might take a set of individual modules, especially designed for you, along with a course or two. For more information on courses and modules go to the Courses page.
How long will it take me to finish?
This depends entirely on what skills you need to work on and how much time you give to your study with us. If you're enrolled in an ABE program, your Learning Plan will list the Mindquest Academy course(s) you might take and suggest a time for completion.
